Q: Is registration required in order to take classes?
A: Yes. You can register by calling us at 610-668-4645 or register online or print out the registration form found on the Dancexpress website (www.mydancexpress.com) online and mail it to 313 Iona Ave., Narberth PA 19072.
Q: How do I know which level of class to take?
A: If you are unsure of what level of dance to take, please call us and we will help you make that decision. Guidelines of what each class entails helps us to choose the correct class. Remember, if you’ve chosen a class that is not best for you, we will happily switch you to another class.
Q: What classes do you offer?
A: Dancexpress offers classes in Creative Movement, Baby-Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern, Adult Pilates, Adult Modern, Adult FITT Technology, and Adult Yoga.
Q: What type of dance floor is used?
A: Both of our dance rooms have a vinyl composite “Marley” floor, which is considered the best surface layer for recreational to professional dance. A Marley floor allows dancers to slide, with a degree of “controlled slip but is not slippery so there is less risk of slips and falls. Our downstairs studio has floating floors with the Marley top surface. Our floors help reduce the risk of injuries and allow students to dance longer without getting tired.
Q: What is the age range and experience necessary to participate in your program?
A: We offer classes for students ranging from age 2 thru adult, and offer classes in all different levels, from beginner to advanced. It is our goal to provide the dance student with a class in which they feel comfortable while being challenged.
Q: How will I be kept informed of holidays, upcoming events, and other information regarding Dancexpress?
A: Parents will receive a newsletter every month, via email, with important information. This newsletter is also available online at all times at www.mydancexpress.com
Q: Do you have a recital?
A: Yes, Dancexpress ends their yearly season with a fun-filled entertaining recital. The recital allows students the chance to display what they have learned throughout the year. All students are invited to participate in the recital. *There is an additional fee for the performance and costumes.
Q: How can I watch my child in class?
A: All downstairs classes are open for viewing through a one-way mirror so that teachers and students can retain their focus without distraction. Parents who wish to observe the upstairs class may do so but must view class from the dressing room so dancers aren’t distracted.
Q: How can I pay for lessons?
A: Payments can be made by Cash, Check, or Credit Card.
Q: When are payments due?
A: Payments are due by the 8th of each month. You can drop off or mail your payments to Dancexpress Dance Studio:313 Iona Avenue, Narberth, PA 19072. There is a $25 fee for all returned checks.
Q: Should I expect to pay any additional fees?
A: Yes. Costume and Performance fees will be due at a later date for the Recital. Plenty of notice will be given for those fees and dates.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Yes, we do have a mandatory dress code, which is listed below. All male students are required to wear a shirt with black pants. Dress Code:
All girls in Creative Movement and Baby Dance may wear any type of bodysuit and skirt with pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Creative movement students also need black tap shoes. Hair may be worn any way as long as it is pulled away from the face. Boys need black tap shoes and black ballet shoes.
Ballet students of all levels are required to wear leotards and pink tights. Pink ballet slippers are mandatory for all levels. Hair must be worn in a bun for Beginner Level and above.
Jazz students are required to wear appropriate dancewear; fitted shirt, dance pants or shorts. All levels are required to wear black jazz slip on shoes.
Tap students are required to wear pants or shorts with a fitted shirt. All levels will wear black tap shoes.
Modern and Yoga students are required to wear appropriate dancewear; dance pants or shorts, leotard or dance top. Bare feet are worn in Modern and Yoga classes.
Hip Hop students are required to wear loose dancewear and sneakers. Note: In inclement weather (snow/ice/rain) a separate pair of clean dry sneakers must be worn to protect the dance floor.
Students who are chosen for the Intermediate or Advanced Jazz class must take one Ballet class in addition to their Jazz class. Jazz instructors recommend students to the directors for Intermediate and Advanced classes. Pointe students must be recommended by their ballet teachers and approved to go on Pointe by the Ballet teacher.
Emergency/Inclement Weather Closings
In case of an emergency/inclement weather closing, we will email you the information. There will also be a message left on the studio phone voice mail and a message written on the Dancexpress website.
